Campbell County Criminal History Checks
No single Campbell County portal contains every arrest, charge, disposition, supervision event, and police report. Start with the event being researched. The Campbell County Detention Center current-inmate route is the fastest official source for present custody. The Office of Circuit Court Clerk holds Campbell District and Circuit Court files. The AOC FastCheck and One-Time gateway compiles statewide CourtNet data, while the police department that wrote an incident report keeps that report.
Use a full legal name and date of birth when the official form permits them. Note alternate spellings, the incident date, agency, and any case or booking number. Those details help separate people with similar names and connect records made at different stages.
- Check CCDC for current custody or Guest CourtNet for a public event lead.
- Record the case, jacket, booking, or incident number shown by the official source.
- Request the police narrative from its creating agency and the case file from the Campbell clerk.
- Compare the original charge with amendments and the final disposition. An initial allegation is not the outcome.
- Order an AOC report or a fingerprint-supported record only when that official product fits the need.
Campbell Records Hub in Newport
Alexandria is the county seat, but Newport is the practical criminal-record hub. Campbell County Courthouse stands at 330 York Street. The clerk can be reached at 859-292-6314; press 1 for District Court and press 2 for Circuit Court. The narrower published clerk window is 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. District Court handles misdemeanors, violations, traffic matters, and a felony’s preliminary stage. Circuit Court handles indictments and felony prosecutions.
The Kentucky Court of Justice Campbell page shows the courthouse and clerk information.
The official court page is the sound starting point for file location, division routing, hours, and court contact details. If an older file has moved, ask the clerk for its case and file locator numbers before contacting the State Records Center. That center cannot perform a name search for transferred Campbell files.

Official Background Checks in Kentucky
Kentucky uses more than one official product. The Kentucky State Police Criminal Identification and Records Branch maintains fingerprint-supported criminal-history data. Separately, the Kentucky Court of Justice Administrative Office of the Courts sells name-based reports drawn from CourtNet. An AOC report covers statewide traffic and misdemeanor history for at least five years and felonies back to 1978, subject to exclusions. It does not include federal, juvenile, mental-health, domestic-violence, expunged, or purged matters.
The AOC background-check instructions explain the report’s scope, ordering routes, and correction process.
AOC marks its product “Not an Official Court Record.” For a signed order or a complete Campbell County case file, return to the circuit clerk. A person reviewing their own national fingerprint identity history may use the FBI process; Kentucky does not publish one universal IdentoGO channel for all personal checks.
| Product | Basis | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| AOC FastCheck / One-Time | Name and CourtNet case data | Statewide Kentucky court-report compilation |
| Campbell clerk file | Official District or Circuit Court file | Orders, docket details, and local case copies |
| KSP or FBI identity history | Fingerprint-supported identity data | Personal record review through the applicable official process |
Campbell FastCheck Report Details
AOC FastCheck requires registration and keeps a completed result available in the registered user’s retrieval area for 30 days. The One-Time option avoids a recurring account, but results arrive by mail. Both cost $25. Online card payments carry a 2.25 percent convenience fee or a $2.50 minimum. Requests are processed according to volume and are not expedited.
The AOC public menu presents both order paths.
The order form uses the subject’s full name and date of birth as key matching data; AOC paper forms may also request Social Security or driver-license details. A report can show county, case number, original and amended charges, charge and disposition dates, outcome, and clerk memos. If a Campbell entry is wrong, the local clerk corrects the source case data when appropriate; the AOC Records Unit handles report questions at 800-928-6381.
| Report fee | $25 |
|---|---|
| Online card charge | 2.25%, with a $2.50 minimum |
| FastCheck delivery | Online retrieval for registered users |
| One-Time delivery | U.S. mail |
| Result retention | 30 days in the registered retrieval area |
Kinds of Criminal Records
Each Campbell County criminal record answers a different question. Police reports describe an officer’s investigation. CCDC booking records show intake and current custody. Court files show filed charges, hearings, pleas, orders, and disposition. AOC produces a statewide court-data report, while KSP and FBI systems hold fingerprint-supported histories. KOOL covers Kentucky Department of Corrections custody and supervision, and the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry covers people subject to statutory registration.
- Arrest and booking: the arresting agency creates the narrative; CCDC creates the jail entry.
- Court case: District or Circuit Court records the charge and its outcome.
- Warrant: the issuing court and serving agency must confirm current status.
- Corrections: KOOL can show prison, probation, or parole information.
- Registry: KSP publishes information required by Kentucky registration law.
Campbell Criminal Record Custodians
Campbell County has an elected sheriff, a county police department, and several city police departments. They are separate custodians. Fiscal Court holds reports issued by Campbell County Police, but it cannot supply a Newport, Fort Thomas, or Alexandria police report. The sheriff’s public duties center on tax collection, court security, service, and process; it is not the jailer and does not automatically hold another department’s incident narrative.
Campbell County Police accepts records requests by mail to ATTN: Records, P.O. Box 6, Alexandria, KY 41001; fax at 859-547-3129; or email at ccpolice@campbellcountyky.gov. Its Records Specialist is available at 859-547-3100. Fiscal Court’s custodian accepts signed requests in person, by mail, fax, or email. CCDC has its own request channel at openrecordsCCDC@campbellcountyky.gov.
Record flow: Police report › CCDC booking › District Court filing › Circuit Court indictment when applicable › CourtNet and AOC report.
Campbell Criminal Records: What They Contain
Read each field in context. A booking charge is an allegation at intake. A court file may later show an amended charge, dismissal, acquittal, guilty plea, or verdict. Preserve original and final charge descriptions separately. Also distinguish arrest time, booking time, charge date, and disposition date. Combining them can make an old case appear to be a new arrest.
| Name & identifiers | Legal name, aliases, date of birth, and record-specific ID numbers where public. |
|---|---|
| Arrest / booking | Agency, arrest and intake dates, jacket number, allegations, bond, and custody status. |
| Charges & statutes | Original charge, amended charge, Kentucky citation, and offense class. |
| Disposition | Plea, verdict, dismissal, acquittal, or other charge outcome and date. |
| Sentence | Confinement, fine, costs, restitution, probation, and other ordered terms. |
| Supervision | DOC location, probation or parole status where KOOL publicly provides it. |
- Disposition
- The court’s outcome for a charge.
- Indictment
- A grand jury’s formal felony accusation.
- Expungement
- Legal removal of eligible records from official public access.
Campbell Jail and Custody Records
CCDC at 601 Central Avenue houses county, state, and federal inmates. Its published expansion brought capacity to 689 and includes at least 30 substance-abuse program beds. The roster is a current-custody snapshot, not a historical arrest archive. If a released person disappears from the list, request the booking record from CCDC and the incident report from the arresting department. If a sentence leads to Kentucky DOC custody or supervision, switch to KOOL.
The CCDC visitation information shows scheduling and video-visit channels.
Visitation and custody searches serve different needs. CCDC’s roster warning says charges are accusations and tells readers to verify them with District or Circuit Court. The jail also directs federal detainee questions to the U.S. Marshals Service in Cincinnati because the local facility cannot release those details.
Kentucky Public Access Laws
The Kentucky Open Records Act reaches existing executive-agency records, but it does not make an agency create a new record or answer general questions. Judicial case files begin with the court clerk, not an executive-branch open-record request to AOC. Active investigative information, protected identities, juvenile material, medical data, and other exempt content may be withheld or redacted.
Key Statutes:
KRS 61.870–61.884 defines Kentucky’s open-record duties, access rules, and exceptions.
KRS 17.150 governs law-enforcement intelligence and investigative information.
KRS 431.073 covers vacating and expunging eligible felony convictions.
KRS 17.580 authorizes public dissemination of registry information while misuse remains unlawful.
Campbell Warrant Status Checks
No authoritative countywide public active-warrant portal was verified. An empty JailTracker, KOOL, or CourtNet result does not prove that no warrant exists. Contact the Campbell District or Circuit clerk with a case number, then check the issuing police agency or sheriff when service information is needed. A bench warrant often follows a missed court date or violation of an order, but only the issuing court can confirm that it has been recalled.
Sealed, juvenile, and unserved investigative warrants may not be public. Someone resolving their own possible warrant should use counsel or arrange a safe court appearance. Never confront another person based on an online entry.
Restricted, Sealed & Expunged Records
AOC public criminal-record reports exclude juvenile, mental-health, domestic-violence, expunged, and purged cases. Agencies also redact Social Security numbers and data that identify protected victims, minors, or medical information. Absence from a public portal can reflect a restriction, record lag, spelling mismatch, moved file, or lawful expungement; it should not be treated as proof that no event ever occurred.
Kentucky requires an expungement certification for conviction-based applications. The certificate costs $40. Once issued, file in the Office of Circuit Court Clerk for the county of conviction. Campbell filings go to 330 York Street. Eligible felony applications use a vacate-and-expunge process. The total felony fee is $300: $50 is due and nonrefundable at filing, and $250 follows a grant. The prosecutor has 60 days to object.
The AOC expungement instructions identify the certification, forms, fees, and filing routes.
If a granted Campbell case still appears, obtain the signed order, allow processing time, and contact both the AOC Records Unit and Campbell clerk. Private data errors cannot change the source court entry.
Campbell Probation and Parole Records
Kentucky runs probation and parole supervision through the Department of Corrections. District 7 covers Campbell, Boone, and Kenton Counties from 103 Landmark Drive, Suite 100, Bellevue, with phone 859-292-6555. KOOL can show a supervision type, dates, district, DOC or PID number, conviction, sentence, and parole information. It does not make officer notes, treatment files, tests, or all case communications public.
The District 7 office page identifies the Campbell service office.
Use the Campbell court file for the sentence and public revocation orders, District 7 for a current public supervision question, the Kentucky Parole Board for release decisions, and VINELink for custody notification. KOOL warns that newer data may not be finalized for up to 120 days.
City-by-City Records in Campbell County
Fort Thomas, Newport, and Alexandria have distinct city record channels. A city police report remains with that city even when booking, prosecution, and statewide reporting move through county and state systems.
Fort Thomas
City police reports begin at the 130 North Fort Thomas Avenue records counter.
Newport
Police report pickup, CCDC custody, and court files use separate nearby offices.
Alexandria
Separate Alexandria Police records from Campbell County Police records.
Three Campbell Record Answers
A current jail entry, a court file, and a statewide AOC report can all be accurate while showing different facts. The jail describes custody and intake allegations. The clerk file records the prosecution and signed outcome. AOC compiles eligible CourtNet fields across Kentucky. For federal cases, use PACER and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. For a sentenced federal prisoner, use the Bureau of Prisons locator rather than CCDC or KOOL.
Mixed custody at CCDC adds another Campbell County distinction. A federal pretrial detainee can be housed at 601 Central Avenue without appearing as a sentenced federal prisoner in the Bureau of Prisons locator. CCDC directs federal custody questions to the U.S. Marshals Service in Cincinnati at 513-684-1594. A person sentenced to Kentucky state custody may instead move from the county roster to KOOL, while someone released locally may disappear from the current-inmate list even though the police, booking, and court records remain with their custodians. These transitions are why a blank search must be read as “not found in this system now,” not as proof that no record exists.
Older court files require a similar handoff. The Campbell clerk can determine whether a file remains at 330 York Street, has moved to a records facility, or was destroyed under an approved retention schedule. When a file has transferred, obtain both the case number and the file locator from the clerk before contacting the State Records Center. The center accepts properly identified requests, but it cannot search transferred Campbell court material by a person’s name or Social Security number.
Good record research preserves each source’s date and number. Verify the court outcome before drawing a conclusion from an arrest or booking entry.
